Plain terms for a small service. Using CoreNewsletter means agreeing to them.
What this service is
One person runs a newsletter. They choose who may write for it and who receives it. Writers email their pieces in, the system lays them out as one issue on a schedule, and sends it to the readers. That is the whole service.
Who may take part
- Running a newsletter requires being 18 or older.
- Writing for one requires being 14 or older. Whoever adds a writer to a list warrants that the person is at least 14. If somebody younger has something to share, an adult sends it for them.
- Receiving one has no age limit.
Adding people to a list
Whoever runs a newsletter is responsible for the people they add. Only add people who would expect to hear from you — family, and those who have said they want it. Everyone added is emailed to say so, with a way to stop it, so nobody first discovers they are on a list when an issue arrives.
Do not use this to send mail to people who have not agreed to receive it. An account used that way will be closed.
What you send
What you write and the pictures you send stay yours. You give permission only to lay them out and deliver them to the readers of the newsletters you write for — nothing else, and to nobody else.
You are responsible for having the right to send what you send, including pictures of other people. Do not send anything unlawful, anything that harasses somebody, or anything that is not yours to share.
What we do not do
Articles are not read, edited, approved or curated before publication, and nothing is generated or rewritten for you. Whoever runs a newsletter cannot edit or leave out a piece that has been sent in; removing a writer from the list removes their waiting pieces along with them. What goes out is what your family wrote.
Paying
- $10.00 a month, paid by the person running the newsletter. Writers and readers never pay.
- The first three months are free, counted from the day your first issue actually goes out rather than from the day you sign up. No card is asked for when you sign up.
- You may stop paying at any time. Charges stop, the newsletter stops going out, and your readers are told nothing.
- Payments already made are not refunded. Since the first three months are free and there is nothing to cancel until you have chosen to pay, nobody is charged before they have seen what they are buying.
Ending a newsletter
Ending a newsletter sends its readers one note saying it has finished, so nobody is left wondering. That is separate from simply stopping payment, which tells them nothing.
Either way, your writers, readers and anything waiting are kept for 30 days and then deleted. There is no archive of past issues and no copy kept afterwards.
Keeping your data
Covered in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. In short: as little as possible, for as short a time as possible, never sold, and delete it whenever you like.
What is not promised
This is a small service run by one person. It is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or that every issue will arrive. Email delivery in particular depends on providers nobody here controls.
Keep your own copies of anything you would be sorry to lose. Issues are deleted after they are sent, so the copy in your inbox is the copy that lasts.
Liability is limited to what you have paid in the previous twelve months. Where the law does not permit that limit, it applies as far as it is permitted.
Closing an account
An account may be closed for using the service to send unwanted mail, for sending unlawful content, or for repeatedly adding people who did not want to be added. Where it is reasonable to do so first, we will write to you about it.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the people running newsletters are emailed before it takes effect.
